IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT
Dear AAOMP Members and Annual Meeting Attendees,
Due to the ongoing challenges associated with COVID-19, and after much deliberation, we have made the very difficult decision to cancel the face-to-face 2020 Annual Meeting scheduled for April 24-29 in Nashville. Fortunately, our management company has contracted with an online platform, Hopin, that will allow us to bring to you almost the entire meeting online. This new exciting program will allow you to participate in the CE courses you signed up for and submit questions online. Recognizing the importance of continuing education to our members, credit for almost the entire educational programming will be given via the Virtual Meeting. Providing the program online involves considerable additional costs so the registration fee remains the same. However, this will give us all an opportunity to partake in some cutting edge CE.
The platform also provides chat rooms where you can network with other attendees, and the alumni groups can gather remotely, thus giving us that sense of community we all enjoy.
We envision the virtual meeting will follow a similar educational schedule as the in person Annual Meeting. We know that many of you have already scheduled time off to attend the meeting. Therefore, we are doing our best to keep the same time frames in the virtual meeting as was planned for the face to face meeting.
If you have not yet registered for the meeting, please consider doing so at this time. With no travel involved, we hope that the virtual educational programming will work better with your schedule. Please visit aaompmeeting.org/attend/ for details.
The Fellowship Exam will be canceled for this year. Individuals who were scheduled to take the exam in Nashville can still take the Board exam in October 2020 or wait to take the Fellowship Exam in 2021. Fees will be refunded for this exam.
The Continued Competency Assurance Exam will be offered online.
A written report will be sent to all Fellows in lieu of the annual Fellows Business Meeting.
Registration fees for all spouses/guests, ROUR, and Fellowship Exam will be automatically refunded.
For those who planned to take the Certification Maintenance Exam in Nashville, ABOMP will send you an e-mail with your options.
Even though we are still offering educational programming, if you would like to cancel you will need to notify us via e-mail (email@example.com) that you would like a refund no later than March 30, 2020 with no penalty. Between March 31 and April 10, 2020, if you cancel a $175 administrative fee will be withheld from your refund. After April 10, there will be no refunds. If you contacted us prior to this notification, that you wanted to cancel your registration, you must confirm you still want to cancel.
All hotel reservations at the Loews Vanderbilt in Nashville will be canceled by the hotel next week. Please do not call the hotel. As you can imagine they are being inundated with inquiries. Loews management has been very accommodating to the Academy and we greatly appreciate them working with us during this difficult time.
Remember to cancel your airline reservations at your earliest convenience.
Thank you for your patience during these challenging times. We do hope you will join us at the 2020 Virtual Meeting. Over the next few weeks, we will be providing the membership with more details regarding our plans for the virtual meeting.
Please stay safe during these trying times.
